Some great riding days involve more than just riding. This will be one of those days.

The Ride:  You'll ride north along the shores of Lake George and Lake Champlain, with the New York's Adirondacks on your left and Vermont's Green Mountains to your right. The route is a wonderful mix of twisties, gentle sweepers, and lake-shore cruising.  It happens to include several of our favorite east/west mountainous routes, which involve many left-right-left sweepers.  So, you'll see it all in one day's riding.  Your ride is valid any day of Americade Week, so you can cherry-pick the best riding day (a benefit of a Freedom Pass ride).

The Destination: You'll arrive at "The Grand Canyon of the Adirondacks." It's a 150 deep chasm, carved over eons by a serpentine river running through it. You'll have a ticket that allows you to walk the most scenic walking tour in the Adirondacks. Wander for one to five miles on well-maintained, self-guided walking/hiking trails where one spectacular view after another awaits. Each of the many scenic vistas provides you with a different perspective of the natural beauty.  Show your electronic coupon for a special discounted Americade entry price!

UNGUIDED- Long Lake Loop (Tues-Sat)

A scenic ride deep into the Adirondack Mountains & an amazing natural wonder!

The Ride: You’ll ride deep into the Adirondack Mountains along quintessential local routes. Your ride includes a fun mix of road types, most of which we would classify as gently winding (little to no twisties). You’ll pass through small northern towns and villages populated with rustic wooden buildings, arriving at a stunning one-of-a-kind grand lodge in the heart of the Adirondacks. This is a Freedom Pass ride, so your ride is valid any day of Americade Week, so you can cherry-pick the best riding day.

The Destination: You’ll have an entrance ticket to one of the most popular natural wonder destinations in this part of the world. You’ll walk across a huge and tall all-natural rock bridge, see (and enter?) an absolutely huge cave (the largest cave entrance in the eastern U.S.), and explore Noisy Cave and dip under Arch Rock. The self-guided trail winds from cave to cave, with potholes and deep natural pools in between. Take a rest while overlooking Trout Brook as it rushes into the mouth of the cave below.

UNGUIDED- NY & VT Covered Bridges- (Tues-Sat)

A stunning ride through New York and Vermont, taking you to at least 7 lovely covered bridges, numerous quaint villages and a wonderful restaurant! This is a perennial favorite of Americade, and if you haven't done it, then you really should this year.

Your Ride: This is a rare opportunity to ride through so many of these classic, and beautiful bridges while taking in the unique beauty of Vermont's quaint villages. This was the #1 rated route in 2019 for good reason (imagine a Norman Rockwell painting). The highlights of the tour are the covered bridges, which in many cases are more than 150 years old yet are open for use to all. Before and after lunch you'll ride slowly through them, enjoying their unique and charming character. And it's very difficult to knit together such a good route through so many of them in a single day. THIS is an amazing tour.

UNGUIDED- Under the Adirondacks Tour (Tues-Sat)

A beautiful rural ride above ground, followed by a fascinating 100' waterfall BELOW ground.

The Ride: There is such beauty in the pastoral, rolling terrain of our region's farmland. And, you're going to ride right through it, seeing endless barns, undulating fields, and farm houses, backdropped by the mountains in the distance. Riding the winding farm roads with no traffic is a fun and relaxing way to spend a day. Your ride is valid any day of Americade Week, so you can cherry-pick the best riding day (a benefit of a Freedom Pass ride).

The Destination: Nestled in in the Adirondacks is a little known deep cavern that has hosted curious travelers for the nearly 100 years since its discovery by intrepid bovines in the 1920s.  You'll go on a guided 1/2 mile walk through an unsullied and accessible prehistoric passageway formed of stalactites, stalagmites, and flowstone.  The tour culminates when you reach the world famous 100 ft. underground waterfall. Truly a wonder of nature, this rare sight is unmatched among other "showcaves." You'll enter the cavern using a "petrified escalator" (aka 103 stairs).  If you're claustrophobic, you probably want to consider other Americade Rides.  The caverns maintain a year round temperature of 50 degrees Fahrenheit, so we recommend a light jacket or sweater and comfortable walking shoes. Cameras, pictures, and touching of the formations are allowed, as is not the case with most other showcaves in the US.   Show your electronic coupon for special discounted entry!

UNGUIDED- VT High Gaps- (Tues-Sat)

An epic day of riding up and over some of Vermont’s best mountain passes, coupled with a lunch destination in the heart of one of the most scenic villages in Vermont.

Your Ride: The VT High Gaps Unguided Ride takes you into the heart of Vermont's Green Mountain range, home to some legendary mountain gap roads, and some known only by locals. It's an eternal Americade favorite ride, and one that you'll be glad you took. (Beware, call your doctor if your grin lasts more than 4 hours...). Your ride is valid any day of Americade Week, so you can cherry-pick the best riding day (a benefit of a Freedom Pass ride). The morning begins with a ride along the shores of Lake George as you head north and east to Vermont. Among the many sights you'll see before you enter Vermont will be many stunning lake views of Lake George, some fabulous winding roads, and scenic historic sights. As you head up and over Crown Point Bridge, have your cameras ready for the stunning views of NY's Adirondacks and Vermont's Green Mountains.

Once in Vermont, you'll ride through the pastoral lands that make Vermont famous, but the real jewels lie ahead - the mountain gaps. Vermont's mountain range runs north-to-south, so to head east/west, Vermonters had to build roads up and over the mountains. Some of these "gaps" are legendary (such as the "App Gap"), and some are less well known. This route takes you to the best. Get ready for twisty, winding, FUN roads. Your road home takes you through more of Vermont's beautiful farmland. It's a gentle ride back to Lake George that's camera ready and the perfect end to an exciting day of riding the Gaps.

What's an UNGUIDED RIDE? It guarantees a great ride on your own. We carefully create great riding routes in the Adirondacks and Vermont, on excellent routes on good pavement, with scenic vistas, interesting stops, and great lunch suggestions, all on low-traffic fun riding roads.
- Routes - We obsess about our routes, testing and testing routes so that we can provide you the best one possible on roads you wouldn't normally locate on your own. We emphasize scenery, good pavement, low traffic and traffic lights, safe intersections, good gas stops and clean bathrooms.
- GPS, Turn-by-Turn Directions: You'll have GPS-led, turn-by-turn directions the whole way, with special notifications for great points of interest. You'll know where to turn, where the views are the best, where good scenic stops are, where the best bathrooms are, and more. You'll even be able to see where your riding partners are on the ride! It's like having your own professional motorcycle guide along for the ride.
-Lunch (and dessert): You'll be led to three of the best places to eat on the route. You choose which one suits you best (best food style, least busy, shortest line, etc). After lunch, we try to always include a good desert stop on the return leg.
-Don't have a smart phone, or prefer hard copy maps? No worries - we'll email you a map instead.
-Round-trip mileages are approximate.

If you're coming all the way to the Adirondacks, then why not guarantee yourself a great day of riding?
